Sparkling Wine labels

LABELS WITH A SENSE OF OCCASION

Sparkling wines are made for special moments – celebrations, gifts and spontaneous occasions. The decision to buy sparkling wine is often made in an instant and is strongly influenced by how it looks. A label of just a few square centimetres must therefore draw attention, convey quality and communicate the character of the brand.

We develop and produce high-quality labels that balance visibility with precision, from distinctive small-batch runs to high-volume production. When selecting materials and finishing techniques, our focus is not on maximum effect, but on finding the right expression for the brand and its positioning.

The result is a bottle that stands out on the shelf, feels good to hold and creates a sense of anticipation even before it is opened.

FINDING BALANCE BETWEEN MATERIAL AND FINISHING

For sparkling wine, balance is key. Too much can be overwhelming; too little can go unnoticed. Labels must also perform reliably under real-world conditions. Condensation, temperature fluctuations and exposure to water in an ice bucket is particularly demanding on the material, adhesive and production process.

At Vollherbst we consider design, finishing and production as a whole. Hot foil stamping – flat or combined with embossing – creates clear accents, while blind embossing adds subtle texture and metallic effects draw the eye to specific details. Textured materials can add a sense of quality without making the overall design feel overloaded.

By carefully matching materials and maintaining proven production processes, we ensure consistent quality, reliable production capacity and planning certainty – across products, series and production runs.

    FAQ

    Frequently asked questions

How do you prevent labels from losing quality in the ice bucket or refrigerator?
Through the right combination of material, adhesive and production. We specifically use wet- and cold-resistant papers and matched adhesive systems – so that look and adhesion remain stable under real-world conditions.
Does Vollherbst also offer neck labels and other packaging components?
Yes. We produce neck labels in both wet-glue and self-adhesive processes. Because we run both technologies in-house, we can match material, colour and finishing precisely across all packaging elements.
What developments are you currently seeing in sparkling wine packaging?
We are seeing a clear move towards reduced design. Fewer elements, used with greater precision. Materiality, tactile quality and individual finishing accents are increasingly taking on the role of differentiation.
