WOW-Labels,
that bring brands to life

From regional specialities to international brands – our label projects tell stories that stay with us. Here you will find inspiring examples of our work that show how we make identities visible, tangible and distinctive – with passion, know-how and a wow factor.

The Bull in the Cigar Shop – Villiger Söhne

130 years of family tradition in the refined world of cigars: Villiger Söhne is among Europe’s leading manufacturers of cigars and cigarillos. In 2017, it was time for a new, powerful brand. With “Corrida – Anything but gentle”, the bull is unleashed. A true statement, with a band in bold colours and a carbon look. A provocateur, an enfant terrible? Unconventional, at any rate! Account manager Armin Kyre has looked after the company for many years – and for “Corrida” he played the torero with complete assurance.

Étoile dorée Golden Star of Switzerland Coop

A successful international collaboration between Coop in Switzerland, Bravo Design in South Africa and Vollherbst in Germany: the “Étoile dorée” range with the three wines “Heida”, “Petite Arvine” and “Humagne Rouge”, which are among the specialities of the Valais. Account manager Jörg Diringer has known the project from the very beginning. Coop has been working with Vollherbst for over ten years.

Distinctive – yesterday, today and tomorrow Alfred Schladerer

Who doesn’t know it, the square bottle with the Williams pear? Hardly anyone, because this bottle is the brand par excellence in the fruit brandy and eau-de-vie category on the German market. The sixth generation now runs Brennerei Schladerer, founded in 1844 and based in Staufen in the Markgräfler Land. The classic labels have been printed at Vollherbst “for ever”. The managing directors of both companies have been friends for three generations and share the same values: origin, family spirit, quality.

IT FIZZES AND TEEMS ON THE COFFEE LABEL – RÖST.ART

The café “Röst-Art” in Bochum already carries its ambition in its name. It has to be creative! Both the fine speciality coffees from its own roastery and the entire brand presence. The couple Claudia Schiweck and Richard Miklas engaged a wine-loving graphic designer from Bochum and a hip illustrator from Berlin for the label design – and found the print expert to match at the Kaiserstuhl.

Of Cistercians, Alsatians and Japanese – Weingut Bernhard Huber

The VDP wine estate Bernhard Huber in the Breisgau stands for Pinot Noir and Chardonnay. Cistercian monks brought the first Pinot Noir vines to the region 700 years ago. And in the 1950s, Alsatians sold Chardonnay cuttings into the Breisgau. A stroke of luck – according to young winemaker Julian Huber! In 2017, the agency Münchrath in Freiburg redesigned the labels of Weingut Huber in Malterdingen; account manager Armin Kyre took care of their high-quality realisation. The inspiration for the paper choice, however, came from Japan…

Here we come, raise the axes Feingeistbrennerei Fies

Irish monks once cleared the Black Forest for cultivation. The Romans were still afraid of the dark, black forest. The Black Forest distillery Feingeistbrennerei Franz Fies has clearly taken the monks as its model – and is boldly clearing out the spirits grove! Farewell to the furthest corner of grandfather’s schnapps cupboard. The new “Momentum” series claims the front spot at the bar. The design is by Offenbach agency taste. The brief from Joachim Neymeyer, managing director of the distillery, to Vollherbst was: “Give us everything the printer’s craft has to offer! The maximum in visual impact!” A feast for account managers Manfred Riehle and Armin Kyre.

An eagle nestled in the finest cotton – Weingut Franz Keller

The grandfathers shared lodgings as apprentices: Franz Anton Keller and Franz Anton Vollherbst. At the “Schwarzer Adler” in Oberbergen, they raised a glass together more than once. From the Baden host family Keller, a successful wine-trading and winemaking family grew over the decades. When young winemaker Friedrich Keller joined in 2015, the agency medienagenten developed the overall strategy for the wine estate and the corporate design for the new labels. It was a return to the old emblem of the inn – the double eagle, printed and embossed to a premium standard on the finest cotton paper. Keller and Vollherbst: two families with a great deal to tell each other, professionally and privately. And that for three generations!

Millimetre-precise finishing at postage-stamp size Black Forest Distillers

A wild mix of English nostalgia, Indian aromas and Black Forest craftsmanship. The work behind it – precise to the millimetre. Black Forest Distillers’ “Monkey 47” has made it into the best bars within ten years. Through storytelling and quality! The design comes from the agency Discodoener in Stuttgart, the labels from Vollherbst. Sales Manager Daniel Huber is responsible for the many details in print. Ever taken a closer look?

Sekt and swing as a composition Sektkellerei Geldermann

They say the bubbles dance on the tongue. The Chef de Cave of Sektkellerei Geldermann, Marc Gauchey, creates exceptional sparkling wines from different grape varieties. He tastes – and composes! Just like a band writing a song. For “L’Édition Musique N°2 – Composition de Swing”, the swing-hop band “Boogie Belgique” listened to the secrets in the cellar – and translated the pleasure on the tongue into a pleasure for the ears. Design agency “Yummy Stories” and Vollherbst in turn translated these pleasures into sight and touch. Taste and smell; hear and dance; see and feel: all the senses, one sparkling experience!

Sparkling like a diamond Delaire Graff

Diamonds and wine: Briton Laurence Graff, chairman of Graff Diamonds International, is one of the world’s most famous jewellers and a wine estate owner in South Africa, at the “Delaire Graff Wine Estate”. For the labels of his wines, he expects perfection, minimalism and elegance in one. His branded wines rank among the absolute luxury of South Africa, just like his diamonds. Vollherbst has been printing their labels for ten years. A highly demanding client, whom Vollherbst can always delight with its long experience and innovative expertise.
