A tactile surprise. Impact without colour.

BLIND EMBOSSING

With blind embossing, the material is permanently shaped without using printing ink or foil. The result is a design created solely through the relief and the interplay of light and shadow.

TYPICAL USES

  • Logos and brand symbols
  • Crests and monograms
  • Typography and ornaments
  • Premium design elements
  • Tone-on-tone designs

WHAT WORKS WELL

Thick paper with high volume is particularly well suited for blind embossing. Long paper fibres support clean deformation and a stable relief. However, with the right tooling, we can also achieve excellent results on smooth and less voluminous materials.

MATERIALS MATTER

The quality of a blind embossing depends largely on the tooling, the material and the design of the motif. Elements that are too fine, embossing depths that are unsuitable or tooling that is not matched to the paper can lead to lost details or barely seen embossing.

With the right material, precisely designed tooling and a suitable motif, blind embossing can create a clear and premium effect, making it easy to see.

WHAT WE KNOW

Blind embossing relies entirely on how light and shadow reflect. Depending on the motif, material and viewing distance, its visual impact from a distance may therefore be limited. However, by using colour, varnish or foil, we can prevent embossing from losing its distinctive character.

During the development phase, we assess whether blind embossing alone is sufficient or if we should enhance it with our range of tooling techniques and combination options. These options allow us to control the visual impact, level of detail, and visibility precisely.
