Calm creates attention
MATT VARNISH
Matt varnish reduces reflections and gives surfaces a calm, understated appearance. It can also be used as a protective coating and to make other finishing effects stand out more prominently.

WHAT WORKS WELL
Textured materials are particularly effective when combined with carefully selected glossy finishing effects. Hot foil, gloss varnish and other brilliant elements create an appealing contrast with the matt, textured paper surface and highlight individual design elements.
WHAT YOU SEE AND FEEL
The effect of matt varnish is often created before the product is handled because the viewer sees the effect without consciously associating it with the material used. For example, seeing a smooth surface (such as a wine bottle) with the textured paper of the label is subtly conveying a sense of quality, naturalness and craftsmanship. However, textured materials are not only a visual feature. When you touch textured materials, there is an interplay between visible texture, tactile qualities, and the contrast with the smooth packaging surface. This combination of see and touch influences how the product is perceived.
WE SUGGEST
Many textured papers have an open and highly absorbent surface. This means that printing inks, varnishes and finishing effects must be carefully matched to the materials used. At the same time, textured materials are now available with a range of technical features – including permanent or removable adhesives, as well as suitable barriers for use in refrigerators and ice buckets.
At Vollherbst, we can create a distinctive, exclusive material surface tailored specifically to the product. Using paper with sufficient thickness and volume, we can emboss it with an individual texture of your choice.
